The real centre of the municipality of Caldaro is Caldaro village. It is surrounded by other 7 localities, which offer various possibilities which make your holidays an enjoyable event.
Not far from the market place you will find the South Tyrolean Wine Museum, which holds various secrets of the past, like objects of winegrowers' daily use, drawings, casks an much more secrets...
The parish church in the centre of the village was mentioned for the first time in 1191 and is highly impressive due to its mural-like walls that separate the market place apart from the church. In the year 1373 the buidling was completely on fire and was rebuilt some years after (1378). Only the 72.5 meter high steeple remained untroubled by the fire. Worth seeing are also the ceiling frescos of the Tyrolean artist Josef Schoepf as well as the baroque organ dating back to the year 1792.
Moreover in summer you will enjoy long shopping evenings. Every Thursday you have the possibility to stroll and go shopping in the streets of Caldaro until 10 p.m. The shops are open until this time and there is also an entertainment programme that includes street musicians, artists and special programmes for children on the market place.
