Castelvecchio, which is also the highest located locality, offers a terrific view on the Caldaro Lake, situated about 400 meters below. The smallest locality of Caldaro nowadays has above all touristic relevance an is a perfect starting point for hikes in the surrounding mountains and forests.

A perfect suggestion for hot summer days is a hike along the wild and romantic canyon "Rastenbach", which leads you across bridges, stairs to a huge waterfall before reaching Caldaro Lake. In the shady forests you can enjoy the fresh air. This walk also takes you across the famous Basilica di S. Pietro, which is probably one of the most ancient and famous churches in Tyrol.

Above the S. Pietro ruin, there is the Mediaeval church San Vigilio, which is also a beloved destination for trips, as it also offers a breathtaking view.
