A little paradise at the lake is S. Giuseppe al Lago

The village S. Giuseppe al Lago is situated at the west end of Lake Caldaro. This locality is not only the smallest municipality, but it is also located at the lowest point of the village. However, between Castelvecchio, the locality which is located at the highest point, and S. Giuseppe al Lago, there are 400 metres of altitude difference.

The small village S. Giuseppe al Lago is a paradise for those who love the lake, as it is directly situated at the lakeshore. It is also a perfect starting point for walks around the lake, into the spring valley or to Leuchtenburg Castle. Also the biotope at the southern end of the lake might be explored during a walk.

Another place of interest in S. Giuseppe al Lago is the aristocratic estate Kaltenburg, dating back to 1610. It has been built by Bartolomeo del Gallotto by order of Friedrich Altstätter. Today this estate is in possession of Ignaz Brigl.
