Wine museum

This museum provides information about the history of wine in South Tyrol

The South Tyrolean "Wine Museum" is situated in a place which for a long time has been known for the wine "Kalterer See Auslese". This light wine is particularly popular in Germany and perfectly suits daily meals. Today, however, this type of wine is only produced in limited quantity, in good quality and it also suits a delicious wedding feast.
It it the centre of Caldaro, where the South Tyrolean Wine Museum is located. The place really fits, as it is the largest wine growing area throughout South Tyrol. By means of old agricultural equipment, in a former tithe cellar, interesting information about the development of the wine growing sector are provided. Different cultivation methods for vines, also several which are not used any longer today, are presented in the garden in the back of the museum by means of an educational trail. Grape degustations in autumn are also a well-liked event taking place in this museum.
Apropos degustation: on order you can also explore different types of wine with all the senses! :-)
