There is much to discover in this canyon. We wound like to recommend you the following walk:

Difficulty of the hike: easy walk across forests and fields, canyon uphill (sturdy shoes).
Walking time: 3 hours
Altitude difference: 400 m

Starting point is the miniature golf course (path 1), go across the Wine Route and keep the direction of the Sonnleitenhof. At the two second partings of the ways, take the right. Cross the Rastenbach river and follow the street until you reach the last houses, where the path n° 13 (and later n° 1) starts wich leades you along the romantic Rastenbach canyon.

CAUTION! DUE TO SLIP HAZARD WE WOULD LIKE TO DISADVICE HIKING WITH CHILDREN AGED UNDER 3 YEARS OR TO CALCULATE THE RISK IN ONE’S SOLE DISCRETION.

Steps and bridges lead you to a big waterfall. At the saddle we follow the marker to the ruin of the S. Pietro Basilica, which is considered to be the oldest church in Tyrol).

Back to the saddle, follow the wooden stairs to the locality of Castelvecchio, turn right on the asphalt street and walk along, past an old bridge (in a curve) and after 700 metres turn into the path “Baerentalwanderweg” n° 13.

Through the wonderful broadleaf forest we walk down into the valley. Near the “Vogelmeierhof” we reach the uphill path.

Enjoy this pleasant walk!
